My beautiful new May nails needed its own subsection

I spent this past week battling a cold that just doesn’t want to completely go away, as you will hear in my voice. But today I wanted to discuss this Kdrama on Netflix that’s been out for a while, but something I just got into, and absolutely love.

Lately I’ve been delving into white tees, specifically crewneck, men’s sizes and baby tees. I have a drawerful of just white tees that I sort through on a pretty regular basis; the ones that are starting to show wear and tear, or turn yellow, I immediately get rid of.

Graphic tees are another staple in my wardrobe, specifically upcycled, vintage ones, because the quality is just so great.

In today’s voice memo, I mentioned how it feels “weird” to be greeted with “Happy Mother’s Day.” I didn’t mean it as “weird” in a bad way, but in a way that was still unfamiliar to me. It’s been less than a year since my baby was born, and there are still times when I look at her and think, “I can’t believe she is mine.”

It truly is a miracle to know that I gave birth to this baby, who is growing so quickly and surprises us every single day. Being her mom has been the most chaotic, unpredictable, joyful, and touching part of my life. But I’ve not lost sight of who I am and what I like about myself, especially when it comes to dress and style.

This week’s voice memo was a bit of a challenge to record, mainly because this week was busier than I anticipated. I like to get as much done as possible when our nanny is watching the baby, but things come up (like yesterday and today) where there aren’t enough hours in a day.

My last memo was a bit longer than I had wanted it to be, so I wanted this one to be a a little more concise. I had thought about making it less “stream of consciousness” but then again, what would be the point of a voice memo? I feel like I am leaving a lengthy voicemail message to an old friend (Felicity style) and honestly, it is fun.

So I am trying something new.

Every Saturday I will post a voice memo in this new subsection of quiet luxuries called Field Notes.

It is basically quiet luxuries in audio format, where I talk out loud about things that crossed my mind for that week. Topics like clothes, work, family, fashion, still trying to figure out my style as a 4’11 woman in her early 40s.
