This is going to be a short post, because a) I am enjoying some much needed down time away from my laptop and b) I finally started rereading “Brave New World” and I can’t wait to get back to it (the story is even more harrowing reading it in my 40s than when I first read it in my teens).
The book, a dystopian fiction written by Aldous Huxley, was the reason why I wanted to teach English. Though I did not stay in the teaching field long enough to read it with students, it made me appreciate books even more so.
I always bring a book everywhere, in my bag, when I’m out of town…I always have my “go to” stack on my nightstand.
If my husband and I ever have a kid, the first thing I’m going to do is instill a love of reading to him or her.
What I also can’t leave my home without is no less than three lip products. I am one of those people who can’t live without lip balm, because my lips are chronically dry and peeling. Also I don’t exfoliate my lips as much as I should. I can do without eyeshadows or foundations, but a good lippie is right up there with a sunscreen and eyeliner. Over the weekend I “updated” my makeup bag.
These are what made the cut (please forgive the less than ideal lighting):

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Balm in Berry
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip balm in Rose
Sisley Phyto Rouge Shine in Sheer Ginger
Here is what I noticed:
I am feeling more of the peachy, nude, pink colors more than the vampy, chocolatey, deep colors for fall this year.
I love sheer colors, balmy textures and satiny finishes more so than velvety mattes because I don’t need a mirror to apply (though there is something so chic about applying a lip impromptu with a compact mirror).
Though I really appreciate colors that last, I like some lip products that leave a little wiggle room for re- application (is this just me?)
Also, I feel like lippies with “peptides” kinda sprang up out of nowhere, but as lips also get wrinkled with age (peptides are a chain of amino acids that moisturize and reduce fine lines and wrinkles; an anti aging property) it’s something that’s won me over (I’m definitely a skin picker)
