I’m an SLP who ALSO owns a pair of Garra pants! They’re such great workhorses; super wearable with a touch of unexpected! I love the color you’re wearing and may have to consider another pair…
I do home visits in early intervention, so my job really constrains what I wear.
Hi Grace! I am so glad you love your pair; I do have my eye on the black just bc I love this style so much. And I know what you mean, because I do home visits as well with the 0-3 population! It can be a struggle to find good, quality pieces when doing floor time with little ones.
Years ago I wore an ivory sweater to work and one of my autistic students was so excited to be writing out his multiplication tables on a whiteboard that he kept writing when he got to my sweater 😆 that was a moment for me when I realized my clothes might get ruined on accident and to choose carefully. I also only wear larger hoop earrings on a day when I don’t have visits. I try to wear shoes with socks because I don’t like being barefoot (even in my own house). My students love my glass orb Jane D’Arensbourg ring, and I love it when they say “ball ring.” 🥰 it’s interesting to think about how our clothing is received in the world AND when you come into someone else’s home as part of your job!
I just HAD to look up the ring, and it looks so pretty! I also started wearing socks in my own home after working with early intervention kids. Now I have separate "house" socks to change into once I am done with home visits. I love that your students are so receptive to your accessories and style! One day, I would love to pick your brain regarding your fashion/style recs and what you like to wear for work and leisure!
I assure you I look less chic than your outfits in what you’ve posted! I work in a state where the school district manages early intervention and the dress code is pretty casual. I’m allowed to wear jeans outside of Fridays, which is nice.
Thank you Karen, for your comment! What I love about the brand is how they put a unique spin on things that makes me love all the styles I used to avoid. And I understand what you mean about L.A.! I feel like L.A. drivers "get it" and actually they're more tolerable than anywhere else I've driven.
